Attributes
«II» Id identifier identifier

Uniquely identifies the Clinical Information/Record. This property is akin to a record number. While the record number by itself may not be unique outside of the organization that created it, the Id datatype allows for an assigning authority, which when combined with the local identifier should make the Id unique. Among other purposes, the id property enables other records to be linked together. This is particularly needful for Condiions (a sub type of Observations), where on-going Observations made on the same initial Health Concern (aka Problem) or Intolerance Condition can be tracked.

"Contains a value that uniquely identifies a single allergy for a person" - HL7 Version 2.8, IAM-7
"Contains a unique identifier for the observation.... In most systems the identifier will point to a master observation table that will provide other attributes of the observation that may be used by the receiving system to process the observations it receives." - HL7 Version 2.8, OBX-3
"Contains a unique identifier for this observation." - HL7 Version 2.8, OBX-21.
"Contains the identifier assigned by an initiating system to an instance of a problem." - HL7 Version 2.8, PRB-4

"The unique identifier(s) of this clinical statement. It must be entered if user wants it returned as part of any output (e.g., a wound number), otherwise it will be auto-generated, if needed, by the system serving the record. An identifier does not need to be the actual identifier of the source system. " - HL7 CIMI, InformationEntry.identifier

"Business identifiers assigned to this AllergyIntolerance by the performer or other systems which remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, AllergyIntolerance.identifier
"Business identifiers assigned to this communication by the performer or other systems which remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, Communication.identifier
"Business identifiers assigned to this communication request by the performer or other systems which remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, CommunicationRequest.identifier
"This records identifiers associated with this condition that are defined by business processes and/or used to refer to it when a direct URL reference to the resource itself is not appropriate (e.g. in CDA documents, or in written / printed documentation)." - HL7 FHIR, Condition.identifier
"An external identifier for this statement such as an IRI." - HL7 FHIR, DeviceUseStatement.identifier
"Business identifiers assigned to this [Event sub-type] by the performer and/or other systems. These identifiers remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, Event.identifier pattern.
"Business identifiers assigned to this family member history by the performer or other systems which remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, FamilyMemberHistory.identifier
"A unique identifier assigned to this immunization record." - HL7 FHIR, Immunization.identifier
"External identifier - FHIR will generate its own internal identifiers (probably URLs) which do not need to be explicitly managed by the resource. The identifier here is one that would be used by another non-FHIR system - for example an automated medication pump would provide a record each time it operated; an administration while the patient was off the ward might be made with a different system and entered after the event. Particularly important if these records have to be updated." - HL7 FHIR, MedicationAdministration.identifier
"Identifiers associated with this Medication Dispense that are defined by business processes and/or used to refer to it when a direct URL reference to the resource itself is not appropriate. They are business identifiers assigned to this resource by the performer or other systems and remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server." - HL7 FHIR, MedicationDispense.identifier
